One thing is for sure… we love to stay active in both winter and summer on the Côte-de-Beaupré! And fortunately, there are so many activities to do in the region. Today, we present to you 5 well-kept secrets of our little corner of Quebec.

The Mont-Sainte-Anne Cross-Country Ski Centre is well-known for its skiing area, but the region has another, lesser-known but equally picturesque practice center: the Sentier des Caps. From the Massif sector reception, a network of over 35 km of trails, in both free-style and classic style, will let you experience a serene communion with the boreal forest blanketed in immaculate white. Located at an average altitude of 800 meters, it is one of the first to open among all cross-country ski centers and also one of the last to close! The reception area, equipped with a wood stove, offers rental services including baby sleds, a waxing room, and light refreshments.
*In partnership with the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie, children 14 and under enjoy free access to the trails and the loan of complete equipment including skis, boots, and poles. We love it!

Just 7 km from Mont-Sainte-Anne, the St-Julien range sector offers 42 km of snowshoe trails of different levels in a magical forest with exceptional landscapes. A true experience in the heart of nature! Our favorite trail, accessible to all fitness levels: the 5 km long Le Ruisseau Rouge. Crossing two bridges and a heated shelter of the same name, you will walk through a majestic setting in the heart of the backcountry.

Created to protect, among others, migratory birds, the Cap-Tourmente National Wildlife Reserve hosts nearly 20 species of birds in winter, which can be observed throughout the feeder trail. The reserve also offers 6 km of snowshoe trails leading to magnificent viewpoints. Psst, children can participate in the Grozoiseaux Challenge and winter games (reception and information in a heated relay on weekends from January to March).

This is a well-kept secret by the locals. This 2.5 km round-trip wooded trail follows the Montmorency River and offers beautiful views of its cliffs and ice cascades. We love the natural side close to the city. The suggested return point is at the level of the dam, but the trail continues along the river for several kilometers further north. Winter magic!

For a short but awe-inspiring walk, take the 2km Lakes Trail, running alongside the picturesque Lake St-Tite. From the reception of Sentier des Caps, St-Tite-des-Caps sector, you will walk on a flat trail accessible to the whole family while admiring the beauty of the region’s valleys. There is a shelter at the end, ideal for a snack or to warm up before returning by the same path.
