Marie-Hélène-Prémont Bike Trail
Named after a local Olympic hero, the Marie-Hélène-Prémont Bike Trail is close to 55 km long. It passes by no fewer than seven of the region’s towns and municipalities: Boischatel, L’Ange-Gardien, Château-Richer, Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, Beaupré, Saint-Joachim, and Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges. The cycling route follows a designated roadway that sees only slow-moving traffic (50 kph). It’s the perfect way to admire all the attractions Route de la Nouvelle-France has to offer along Avenue Royale. The vast trail, which was created by extending the bike path at the foot of Montmorency Falls, combines nature, culture, and sport and leads to both Cap Tourmente Wildlife Area and the amazing mountain biking trails at Mont-Sainte-Anne.
The Route de la Nouvelle-France
Identified with signs illustrating the Coat of Arms of the Nouvelle-France, this 50 kilometer trail invites you to wind along the magnificent and historical avenue Royale (Route 360), passing through the beautiful district of Beauport and the municipalities of Boischatel, L'Ange-Gardien, Château-Richer, Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, Beaupré and Saint-Joachim. This old route, probably the oldest in Quebec, reveals close to thirty attractions depicting the culture, heritage, history, as well as agrotourism, all adding to the spectacular scenery and atmosphere of this old historical route. The Route de la Nouvelle France pamphlet is available, free of charge, by completing the publications section.

The religious heritage circuit
Behind these religious buildings and the men who shaped them, the Côte-de-Beaupré reveals the life and history since the beginning of the colony. During the middle of the XVIIth century, many small wooden chapels lined the Côte-de-Beaupré and were later replaced by stone churches. Between 1662 and 1668, the first Bishop of Quebec, Mgr. François-de-Laval, became lord of the seignory of Beaupré. In 1678, he began the canonical erection of the first parishes of the Nouvelle-France, namely Château-Richer, L'Ange-Gardien and Sainte-Anne-du-Petit-Cap. Under his aegis and the Seminary of Quebec, a major religious and economic development was in motion along the Côte-de-Beaupré: the construction of churches, convents, mills, schools, farms, made it so that the population was multiplying. The landscape was being changed forever with the erection of new religious hamlets throughout the centuries.
